Ziana Pearson-Muller: 30 days minimum wage.

1.     How good were Morgan and Alex at budgeting for the 30 day period?:
Over the 30 day period Morgan and Alex overall kept a steady budget besides the times when the inevitable would happen and they would go negative.  When Morgan and Alex both had to take trips to the ER the bills set them back several hundreds of dollars, at times like this the couple took time to reflect and realize how difficult these living conditions are. When they were in the free clinic they encountered a couple who both have diabetes and they mentioned how difficult it was seeking proper medical attention when you are living check-to-check. Another moment when they struggled with money is when Morgan’s niece and nephew came to visit, the trip to the movies and bakery turned out to be an outing that was out of their budget.

3.  Do you feel that race was a factor in getting hired or finding an apartment for Morgan and Alex? What about the fact that they had no children?: Morgan and Alex, both had an one up from other minimum wage living minorities. Race is a big factor in the work force, it has even been proven that 2 people (one black, one white)  with the same education and experience level can have completely different opportunities.  The white person is more likely to get employed, this has been shown in several studies that have to do with how racial profiling and stereotypes affect one's chances of getting a job. Morgan and Alex speak on their white privilege in the film and realize how much harder it would’ve been to get work, housing, etc. if they were of a different race. Bringing children into the equation would’ve challenged them even more because children cost money that they didn’t have.
