7. I do agree with Senator Ted Kennedy’s argument that raising the minimum wage helps families. I see no reason why it wouldn’t help families, aside from those at the very top. And even then, the harm is so insignificant to those who already have so much. More money for families means that everyone in that family will be able to live better, leaning away from the on the edge life style that minimum wage earnings currently own. The movie showed how Morgan and Alex made so little money and couldn’t afford practically anything, even though they were living as scrupulously as possible. A higher minimum wage would have helped them significantly.
8. The working poor are, as the name suggests, the poor that work. But I believe it’s more than that. The working poor are those people living on minimum wage that struggle just to get by. The people who live paycheck to paycheck. Generally, the people in this sort of class can barely afford anything, with little hope of getting out of that rut since there are no savings. Medical bills take significant amounts of money away, so any sort of illness can devastate families. Like medical emergencies, any sort of accident can be terrible to the working poor since they already just manage to get by with normal fees.
