10. Describe how you would make the decision regarding going to the doctor vs. trying to keep finances in the bank. What if children were involved, would that change your decision making process? If so, how?
If I got hurt on the job, I would go to the doctor so I can get it fixed and keep on working. Even if I knew I didn’t have the money to go to the doctor, I would still go because the more I wait with my injury, the worse it will get, and ultimately it would cost more. If I had children I would chose to go to the free clinic to get it looked at. In the movie Morgan wasn’t able to get a spot at the free clinic and eventually went to the hospital, but I wouldn’t be able to provide food for my kids if I went to the emergency room. In the movie, “30 Days Minimum Wage” Morgan was outraged by the cost of just walking into the emergency room. It cost hundreds of dollars to just ask for help, from a real doctor, which I wouldn’t be able to afford, especially with kids. When you have kids you have to put them first even if that means working with an injury, it’s still the best for the kids.
Natalie- I completely agree with you on the injury because the problem/injury can only get worse and start to cost more and more which would hurt you further and put you more in debt than you were before and this way you could pay it off faster. Also time is sensitive with many injuries and it could be really dangerous waiting.
